Alternative Dispute Resolution

Mr. Higgs has retired from the active practice of law after nearly 40 years. Requests for consultations, arbitrations, mediations, and expert witness testimony are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Mr. Higgs was an administrative Hearing Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia from 1985 to 1986 and from 1990 to 2001.  As a Hearing Officer, Mr. Higgs arbitrated dozens of administrative disputes and disciplinary actions against state employees.

Mr. Higgs was a Senior Arbitrator on the National Panel of Consumer Arbitrators for the Better Business Bureau.  He has arbitrated cases for the Better Business Bureau since 1986, and was designated a Senior Arbitrator for the BBB in 1988.  He was an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association from 1992 to 1996.
